Meet our Pastor: Francisco Rojo

It all began with a knock on my door—Becky Alaniz, a young woman inviting me to church. Reluctantly, I sent my kids with her. After persistent invitations, I finally attended a service, and soon after, I was filled with the Holy Ghost. It was like supernatural dynamite! At 27, God delivered me from drugs, alcohol, and suicidal thoughts—all because a child of God knocked on my door.

My first pastor, Elder Kenneth Fields of Oxnard United Pentecostal Church, taught me the Word of God and showed me how to live for Him. Soon, I felt a passion for souls, and God gave me the gift of knowledge to minister to people. I began preaching at my home church, and eventually, I was licensed as a minister through the United Pentecostal Church.

While vacationing in Fiji, I met ministers who invited me to preach. I preached, prayed for healing, and saw people receive the Holy Ghost. Over the next 10 years, I ministered back and forth between Camarillo and Fiji.

In addition, I initiated a Spanish service at my home church to gain experience in pastoring. As my walk with God deepened, I felt called to plant a church in Moorpark. In 2006, I founded Rock of Zion Church, driven by a burden for this city.

For seven years, I was the Secretary of Foreign Missions for the United Pentecostal Church in Southern California. I am dedicated to serving wherever God calls me.

One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 58:5-6, which teaches the power of fasting. I know from experience that fasting is essential to truly serving God.

Meet our Music Ministry leader: Leana Hernandez

I have been in ministry for as long as I can remember as a young girl, and when I was 12 years old, my parents signed me up for piano lessons. Honestly, I had no desire to learn. Little did I know that God had a much bigger plan for me. When I was 15, my dad started a Spanish ministry and I began playing and singing Spanish. Of course, I absolutely had no idea what I was singing about… but feeling God move during those services lit a fire in me that I cannot explain—I experienced His anointing through service. Now, 16 years later, I have a greater love for worship. Every Sunday when I get up to worship, my one desire is that God would use me as His vessel to exalt Him. I guess you can say I was born on the pew because every week I knew without a shadow of a doubt that we were going to be at church whenever there was service—I learned faithfulness to God through my parents' faithfulness. I was only 6 years old when I first felt God, and I have been seeking after him ever since. I cannot say that my faith has always been perfect, but my God has never failed me. There is a scripture that helps me through when life is challenging. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6. With confidence I can say, He has never left me.

Meet OUR Youth Leader: Krystal Rojo

I’ve been serving God and attending church for over 29 years. Raised in church, I developed a deep love for God and His Word. My father, Pastor Rojo, founded Rock of Zion Church nearly 14 years ago, and since then, I’ve been actively involved in ministry wherever needed.

I serve in the Sunday School department and have taught all ages. For over five years, I’ve been leading the youth, encouraging, teaching, and guiding them in their faith. It’s a passion I take seriously.

In a smaller church, I've taken on various roles, including singing soprano and alto on our Praise Team, under the guidance of my sister, Leana Hernandez. I genuinely love the ministry of worshiping God through song.

My favorite Bible verse is II Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." This verse has been my strength through tough trials, reminding me of the power, love, and peace God provides me, even in challenging times.

Meet our Asst. Pastor/Media Ministry leader: Miguel Diaz

I grew up in a Catholic home where alcohol caused many problems in our family. As a teen, I began drinking and soon tried other drugs. From my teenage years to age 31, my life spiraled out of control with alcohol and drugs, leading to heartache, pain, and numerous jail sentences. For 18 years, I was in and out of jail, and by 2008, I was injecting methamphetamine.

In December 2008, while on a meth binge, I was pulled over by an LA Sheriff, and I was arrested for possession of drugs and syringes. I had no care for my life, living only for my addiction. By 2009, I was sentenced to a drug rehabilitation program, but I only went to get the court off my back. I searched for a program I could afford, but when I couldn't find one, I went on another binge.

Eventually, my nephew admitted himself into a program called LifeLine Outreach. He told me that I didn’t need money to join, and I was admitted on September 14, 2009. There, I experienced God's presence like never before, and by the third Sunday, I was filled with the Holy Ghost. I learned about the Apostolic faith and was baptized in Jesus' name in October 2009, according to Acts 2:38. God delivered me from drugs and alcohol, and I graduated from LifeLine Outreach on March 20, 2011.

In January 2013, I came to Rock of Zion Church to answer Pastor Rojo's prayer for someone to fill the media ministry role. Since then, I’ve been serving under his leadership.
